Why have I been doing that has dept me so busy? Well, I have actually been working on transfering my blog to Blogger. I can hardly wait until it it finished, which will be very soon.

Here is mine that did not make it into the actual challenge post. Now, I am stretcing the challenge just a tiny bit. But...I think of prayer and singing unto the Lord at food for the soul. It helps the Christian to grow closer to Him as well as gives them strength to continue on day to day.

 I am not so sure this is the type of food that the challenge is talking about, but it is food for me. Sooo...

Maculine Card With A Leather Look

As you most likely noticed, I have been on a digi kick. I like them for many reasons, but the one on top of my list is the accessibility and variety they offer. Not to long ago, I found that these are just the beginning of what is available out there. To purchase and for FREE! You can find tea bag patterns, iris folding patterns, paper pricking patterns, paper tole patterns and I am sure there is a lot more I have not found yet.

One thing I found most fascinating is the down loadable hybrid cards! Here is a close up of my most recent hybrid card which I purchased from Craft 2 Craft. You can find this under the quick cards category. All I had to do was cut it out, adhere it to cardstock and add the gold outline stickers. I did do the paper tole technique on this card, though it would have looked fine if I left this part out. For those who are not into the paper tole, there are also many cards without the paper tole images added.

 As you also know, I love Paper Temptress paper. Among the glimmery, shimmery and shiny papers, she carries the most wonderful leather paper line. With this image, how could I not try to print on it? As you can see, the leather paper is not only good for 3D items such as boxes and note books, but it is FANTASTIC for printing on too.

It is a bit thick for the paper tole technique though. I had a hard time cutting out the images for it even with a new blade in my craft knife. Luckily the camera picks up details that the human eye does not see. PHEW!!! So the poor cutting does not show up so much in real life.

When you click on the photos, you will see the fantastic way this paper makes the saddle, hat and boots look like real leather. The background also picked up some of the leather texture. My camera is great at picking out the things I don’t want you to see, LOL, it is lousy at capturing the parts I DO want you to see.  Therefore, the photos really don’t do the leather texture justice. In real life, it is sooooo stunning. You will get a good idea of how it affected this image though.

I used the ivory leather paper on this card. It really is perfect for card making since it is only textured on one side. You can purchase it in white, black, blue, navy blue, gray and cordovan (think Burgundy, LOL) Also available for purchase is a variety pack in which you will get one sheet of each color. This is defiantly one paper you will want in your "real life" stash!  Even better, it is currently on special for 25% off!!!

Child Money Hold and a Re-do

I don't often give a child 4-5 years old money for an occasion such as a birthday. Sometimes, though, there is no other choice. It never fails to make their face shine when they see a "big" number on a  bill which is such fun.

Yesterday I posted a card made with one of the Some Odd Girl images. They are sponsoring the Digital Tuesday Challenge this week. When going through their stamps, I could not choose just one to use. They are all so adorable.

Today I used the cutest dog called Lil Puppy Walks. The first thing I thought of when I saw him was a child's card. I have very few of this theme in my stash of cards so that made it the perfect choice.

I colored him very simply since that is how most child cards I have seen are. I also think that children that age associate with that type of coloring on an image. 

he he he, I love his little toy. I bought this a while ago to make a scrapbook page about my doxie. It still hasn't happened, but I found this and the bone sticker as I was going through my stash. This image was just crying for these!

Look at that big number on the bill. Wow, it has not 1 but 2 digits, lol. If I were 5 years old this bill would instantly make me feel so grown up!

Onto my RE-DO. Last Tuesday, I posted a TV Guide/magazine holder. As I said in the post, I was not happy with the image background. Since I adhered it with the very strong Scor-tap, I did not think I would be able to get it off. Well...I did! Here is the "new" one, LOL

I definitely like this much better. I used a smaller piece of wood and left off the gold "shine" around him. I also added the DAD! with a frame.

 

As you can see, the rest remained the same. I still love the charm. It seems so funny to me with the image, LOL

Shaped Card and Lots of Flowers

I have 2 projects to share with you today. Yesterday I said I would post a project using one of the Some Odd Girl stamp. I chose to use the digital stamp from the Mae line.

Oh My, isn't she adorable. I had such fun coloring her. For some reason she reminds me of my sons girlfriend, LOL, and she is just as sweet as this image is. 

I don't usually use bright colors, but this image would not have been the same in pastel or earth tones. I don't know if you can see it in the photos (you can always click on them to see a larger version) but there is a lot of glitter on the paper I chose. How about THAT, bling with no work, LOL

I think she is really sweet, so I entered her in this weeks Pile it on challenge~~~Make is sweet

My next card uses the really cute image from Sew Many Cards called Halen With Hat. She can be purchased with Pack #6. Isn't she adorable. I added some liquid pearls to her necklace to give them some dimension. I also put a rhinestone on her bow, LOL 

 

The dress pattern is from The Cutting Cafe'. Since the front is rather heavy, I applied some crystal effects along the inside of the fold and let it dry. Now it has a nice strong fold so it shouldn't rip. The inside sentiment says "It takes courage to grow up to become who you really are". As she is playing dress up with the big girl clothes, I am sure she is wondering when she will be big enough to wear the lovely hats and dresses. That is why I put her on a dress pattern, to represent what she is daydreaming about.

Paper Piercing, Paper Stitching and Lace

I went about making this card a bit different than I usually start. I actually chose the paper I wanted to use first! It is so much easier than trying to match after the image is finished! This most likely is not news to you all, but it was a revelation for me, LOL. I have to thank Adrina for answering my question about how she goes about choosing her paper. I had such fun making this card. I played just for the sake of playing today.

After picking out the paper, I went to The Daily Dare site and looked through lots of challenges. If your looking for some new challenges or one place you can go through a lot at the same time, this is a fantastic site for you. I found 8 challenges on their site! You can see them at the end of the post.

I have lots of pictures of this this card since it has so many "pages" for lack of a better word, LOL You will need to click on them to get a better view of the piercing, stitching and other details.

 


   

The pattern paper is from an unknown origin. I have had it for so long I couldn't even guess where I bought it from. Most likely Micheal's or AC Moore.

The rest of the paper is from Paper Temptress. As you can see from the photos, there is such a beautiful amount of shimmer to this top layer. This paper is the Glimmer Paper in Autumn Hay text weight. The rest of the paper is from the Basic line in light yellow and pink.

Sew Many Cards Challenge #12

Welcome to SEW Many Cards Challenge #12.

 We have an awesome sponsor this week, KLM Designs.

The challenge this week is a really fun one: ANYTHING GOES! This is my favorite type of challenge. It really lets the creative juices flow.

 

With the wonderful image from KLM called Make Our Own Globe, you can change the size then add any image inside that you want. You can add a digital image before printing or you could add a stamped image after printing. Either way, you will have made your own.

 

 

I combined the globe image with the sentiment from the KLM set Lily. After sizing I inserted the Sew Many Cards image Sandcastle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I coated the "glass" of the globe with Crystal effects. I applied it with a paintbrush to keep the coat thin. I also wanted to make the brush strokes follow the shape of the globe to give the appearance of rounded glass rather than just the shine of glass. You can see in the above photos that the light reflects off the globe in a more circular pattern giving it more of a 3 dimensional appearance.
